Professor Barter leads strategic initiatives to enhance student experience, curriculum innovation, and academic quality across transnational education. He holds a Ph.D. in Education and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has held senior leadership roles including Deputy Dean and School Director of Learning and Teaching, and has led major institutional projects in assessment reform, partnership development, and digital learning. Barter has worked with several sports clubs through the years and regularly appears on data-led podcasts analyzing performance.

His teaching and research span pedagogy, biomechanics, coaching science, and technology-enhanced learning. He has published widely and presented at national and international conferences and continues to supervise doctoral research. He has a passion for enabling all to gain a deeper understanding of performance through data and helping to dispel sports media myths.
