Aaron Gullickson

Aaron Gullickson, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Oregon. He is also a co-editor of Socius, the open access journal of the American Sociological Association.

Gullickson completed his Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography at the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. He was an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, before moving to the University of Oregon in 2007.

His empirical interests focus on issues of racial inequality, categorization, and identification. His work is broad ranging, utilizing both historical and contemporary data sources from around the world. Gullickson’s work has appeared in the American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Demography, Social Forces, and other top journals in the fields of sociology and demography.

Gullickson regularly teaches undergraduate and graduate level statistical analysis, where he has received excellent reviews for his teaching approach. His teaching emphasizes the importance of the practical and occasionally mundane aspects of data analysis on conducting high-quality research.
