Andrew Miles
Andrew Miles, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto where he teaches statistical methods at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Miles received his Ph.D. from Duke University in 2015 and started teaching at the University of Toronto in the same year. He studies the sources and consequences of morality, with a particular focus on harnessing the power of morality to shape emotions and behavior. He also studies the effects of culture on behavior. His research has appeared in journals including the American Sociological Review, Sociological Methods and Research and Social Science Research. His current work is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Miles—a highly rated instructor—has taught numerous classes and workshops on quantitative data analysis, on topics including missing data, programming in R, and the analysis of panel data. In 2018 he organized the first University of Toronto Social Science Research Methods week.
